TBTL-a-Thon Week 2015 Kicks Off!

It’s TBTL-a-Thon week and that means it’s an even better time to donate to TBTL by way of the Infinite Guest website. Depending on how much you would like to donate, you can also get some really good goodies, including a TBTL mug and/or Luke and Andrew in doll form. Oh, that and you’ll have your named mentioned on the podcast as a donor!

Click on this link to go to the TBTL-a-thon donation page!

Without TBTL, there wouldn’t be much of a Marsupial Gurgle page.

Fixed MPEG-4 Ringtone Downloads for Internet Explorer

Up until Friday, the MPEG-4 Ringtone download links did not work as expected with Internet Explorer. Instead of saving the files with an “.m4r” file extension required to import ringtones into iTunes, Internet Explorer would save them with the generic “.m4a” extension.

This is a known issue with the way the Amazon cloud file storage solution, Amazon S3, sends files and how Internet Explorer interprets the files. I have gone and fixed all of the existing MPEG-4 ringtone files so that they download with the correct file extension. I have also altered the method that I upload the files to Amazon S3 so that new MPEG-4 ringtones will be marked with the appropriate flags for download.

I apologize for the inconvenience and not catching and fixing this issue earlier.

Interview on Little Red Bandwagon

Back on April 14th, the guys and gal behind the Little Red Bandwagon podcart (they discuss topics and discussions from TBTL and the sTens Facebook group page, plus bring on other Tens to talk about favorite moments, etc.) asked me if I was interested in being on next episode of the podcart to talk about this site, Marsupial Gurgle, my history with and favorite segment from TBTL.

That Friday, I hooked up with Christy Wise on Twitter and Mike Frizzell on Twitter and did the interview. Mike was also interested in my history with Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! and the Stats Page that I run and manage.

My interview was published in the second half of LRB Episode 5 at around the 1:16:15 mark, which was posted on April 20th. I’ve embedded the episode below, but you can check out the podcart and additional notes at:

One thing to note is that I mentioned that I would not be able to go to the TBTL Night with the Seattle Mariners on May 28th due to work related stuff. Well, I found out that I wasn’t correct about being on-call that week and thus will be going to the match. Looking forward to seeing the Tens!

Happy 1st Birthday to Andrew’s Marsupial Gurgle!

Quick update: Neither Luke or Andrew mentioned it on Tuesday’s TBTL, show #1843. Sigh…
Quick update #2: After a recent taping of Live Wire! Radio, Luke apologized for forgetting to mention it on either show.

One year ago today, TBTL #1583 in a collector’s series was recorded and published to the world; and, in that recording, lurked the sound that would later be described as a “sweet gurgle of an infant marsupial” and thus dubbed, by Luke, the Marsupial Gurgle.

When it came time to christen this website a while back, it was a no-brainer that I had to give it the name of “Marsupial Gurgle” in honor of Andrew and the sweet, sweet sound that he randomly created.

TBTL Ten, Bruce Purkey posted up a Happy Birthday song for Andrew’s Marsupial Gurgle.

Happy birthday Andrew’s Marsupial Gurgle sound!

Welcome to the new Marsupial Gurgle!

Thanks to the Tens of listeners, the Marsupial Gurgle site has grown dramatically over the past few months as more clips and drops are curated on the site. While the original design of the Marsupial Gurgle site started off clean and simple, it started to become harder to maintain and harder to find specific clips. The search for a new home for the Gurgle was needed.

After a few weeks of research and experimentation, I finally settled on a blog-like format and chose WordPress for its ease of use and content searching capabilities. The site’s design was chosen to keep the focus on the content, while making the site mobile-friendly as possible. I have also moved the hosting of the audio files from my personal website to Amazon’s cloud distribution for better and more reliable access.

To find a clip or drop, just use the search box at the top of the page, As with the previous version of the site, I will try to include and tag clips with a show number that you can search for.

If you would like to request a clip or a drop to be added, please use the “Clip/Drop Request” form to send them in.

Curating content for, managing and maintaining the Marsupial Gurgle takes a lot of time and energy; plus, there are costs associated to the hosting and bandwidth required for the site and the audio clips. If you would like to help support the Marsupial Gurgle site, please consider tossing a dollarini or two via PayPal using the button below. Any and all amounts would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, you can follow my Twitter account, @questionlp, or check out the Marsupial Gurgle Facebook page for any status updates and posts about this site and both TBTL and Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me! related tweets.
